Time For You

Is it just me, or has 2023 been legit tumultuous? Everywhere I turn, there's something to be worried about. As a human who could be considered an empath, I'm tired with a capital T. Despite the constant mind swirl of topics my brain produces at any given moment (shout out to my people for letting me be me when I'm not always whole), I find joy in looking to Freely Adorned as a place for grounding. I get to look on the inside when I have more emotions than solutions; I get to remind you and me to honor the rituals that bring stillness and delight into our daily lives. Some days, getting ready means playing a musical playlist instead of NPR News while I style my short pixie cut. Or I become one with my gua sha or hand comb for the ultimate scalp massage. These small steps have a big payoff for my overall mood.

Although I can't always make time for these practices daily, being intentional about implementing a particular ritual or technique every week can do some good. Whether you're an early riser and enjoy finding unique opportunities to start your day before the chaos begins, or you despise the sound of your alarm going off and prefer silence over violence, we can curate intentional moments to start our day. For me, listening to music is one way I get to daydream before the work day starts.

Whatever you choose to do, know that taking time to care for yourself shouldn't always feel like a chore. You deserve stillness. You deserve to be made whole.
