Take What You Need

Many people took the time to bring awareness to World Mental Health Day yesterday. This day is an international day to bring attention to education, understanding, and advocacy against social stigmas related to mental health. Some heavily scrutinize brands' voices in this space, mainly because there's a significant amount of skepticism when we embrace these singular moments of recognition. So, extending that day of mention to share Freely Adorned's position was only fitting. The products we offer have always been highlighted as a way to bring joy and efficiency to your hairstyling routine. But more than the need for efficiency, it's been about giving the freedom to spend time caring for ourselves. Caring for ourselves can be an act of resistance and highlight the need for intentionality in our busy lives.

Here are a few ways to bring more intentionality into your daily routine.

- Struggle with winding down at night? Consider leveraging technology to adopt a daily sleep/wake routine. For example, the iPhone will allow you to create daily routines, but the best part is receiving wind-down reminders in advance to make your goal more achievable.

- Develop a night routine that is practical and sustainable. Do you have a rhythm of pampering (bathing, hair, and facial care) before bed? See these activities as opportunities for daily self-care.

- Have trouble sleeping? Consider turning off the television and picking up that book you've been eager to read. Are books too blah in the evening? Don't sweat it; consider simple breathing exercises or meditations via the Calm or Peloton apps to support mindlessness.

- Can't put your phone down? Consider the do not disturb feature on your phone to block notifications that lead you down a rabbit hole (how did I end up watching Reels about Shih Tsu's in Halloween costumes)?
